Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has ordered the immediate closure of all unregistered clinics and diagnostic centres in the country.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the DGHS on Wednesday, several officials present at the meeting confirmed the information to The Daily Samakal.
Director of DGHS (Hospital and Clinic) Md. Billal Hossain said a meeting on Wednesday had decided to close all unregistered clinics and diagnostic centres within 72 hours. However, no formal order has been issued yet, he added.
He said that clinics and diagnostic centres that did not apply for licenses were regarded as illegal.
According to the directorate, the number of approved and applied clinics and diagnostic centres in the country is about 11,000.
