A host of actors from Bengal including some of the big names like Jisshu Sengupta, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Saswata Chatterjee, Raima Sen, Tota Roy Choudhury, Swastika Mukherjee and Paoli Dam are a part of the bandwagon that’s representing the exquisite talent of Bengali cinema on the national level.

We already know another leading lady from Tollywood, Mimi Chakraborty, is also making her Bollywood debut. In fact, she was recently in Mumbai to shoot for her first Hindi film. We asked the actress about her Mumbai experience and Mimi promptly says that Mumbai has never intrigued her. “Frankly speaking, I have received many offers from Bollywood in the past but I couldn’t manage it because of various reasons. But I was waiting for the right script, and this I felt it was the ideal time to do my first Hindi film,” explained the actor-MP.

She also added that it will be a bigger exposure for her, “The shooting experience was great. Also, Mumbai gives any artist a bigger exposure, on the national scale. But I am already an MP. So, I have my national exposure. That’s why it didn’t intrigue me. Still, working in a good film will always give me a great joy, whatever may be the language is.”

For the unversed Mimi has already wrapped up the shooting for the film which is a Hindi remake of her Bengali hit ‘Posto’. The Hindi version, titled ‘Shastry Viruddh Shastry’, is being directed by the same duo, Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, who helmed the original Bengali film. Apart from Mimi, ‘Shastry Viruddh Shastry’ has an ensemble cast including Paresh Rawal, Ami Sadh, Neena Kulkarni, Amruta Subhash, Shiv Pandit and Manoj Joshi in key roles.

Since she’s already doing her first Hindi film is there any chance Mimi will leave Tollywood for better opportunities in Mumbai? Mimi quickly responds with a smile, “I am an ambitious woman so I always think about expansion. I want to break my own boundaries and set new benchmarks in life.”

Meanwhile, Mimi’s latest film ‘Mini’, directed by Mainak Bhaumik, has so far received a mixed response from the audience.
